CHALLENGE /
The challenge throughout this project revolved around designing six villas for each of the children of the Al-Rashed family, four of which are female and thus having each an individual and private villa with the possibility of all four opening on to each other. Four typical villas of 1,150 m² each are envisioned along with two other typical villas of 1,400 m² each for the two men and their respective families.
CONCEPT /
The concept of the courtyard is adopted in the planning of the large villas. All spaces overlook the garden and swimming pool areas that spread throughout the ground and basement floors. The concept of the gallery governs the design of each of the four smaller villas individually while the courtyard typology is adopted in the master planning of all four of them together: should the fences separating the villas and their landscaped areas be removed, the four units would overlook the gardens and swimming pool areas in a courtyard manner planning.
