CHALLENGE /

After acquiring a strategically located plot on the Khobar coast, close to the causeway bridge that leads to Bahrain, Rikaz Properties opted to readapt the already built concrete building skeleton on the plot and turn it from a residential building into a 150-key Holiday Inn.

CONCEPT /

Converting an existing residential building with bland outdated typical floors into a lively hotel with a contemporary look and feel to it was no easy task. The floor plans were fully remodeled to include all of the operator's requirements and the facade stripped off and redesigned in a checkered manner adding dynamism along its axis.

A secondary layer of dynamism was introduced perpendicularly to the main axis by varying the depth of the balconies embedded within the building envelope.
